Map Your Enterprise

ARAMIS is an established business solution that has grown over centuries and profited from user input from prepress and media businesses. ARAMIS has become a powerful, well-balanced and practical tool - the best stage to offer you more productivity, efficiency and economical cost structures with an "Out-of-the-box" solution.

Individual requirements
Most companies have individual requirements for their job management solution, often involving the companies' job specialization. Also, processes have grown within an enterprise to form an efficient infrastructure. Those aspects need to be accounted for by a job management solution - because software has to suit the company, and not vice versa. And last but not least, there are often personal wishes to be met by a system, from customers as well as personnel.

Independent customization
ARAMIS offers powerful functions that make extensive adjustments possible. Flexible fields are at your own disposal to individualize interfaces and functions for capturing job details. By request, every employee of your company can be trained to use these possibilities. Information can be gathered in every possible way, processed (automatically) or passed on to or from third party applications. This functional area is called "Specifications", and - with form design tools, individual price lists, text modules and much more - forms the pinnacle of ARAMIS flexibility.

The targets of customization are variable. Many ARAMIS users have created their own solutions - alone or with our developers. Below you find a list of problems that could be resolved with ARAMIS possibilities to specify your own interfaces.

  • Differentiated information, depending on line of business, product or service
  • Production-relevant information (color, material, settings etc.)
  • Information about workflow control
  • Information about customers (sometimes requested by customers)
  • Information exchange with other (production) systems
  • Generating data structure and automating transfers
  • Causality checks or calculations (e.g. on the basis of MS Excel)
  • Exchange and control with a web interface (tool for customer approval)
  • Information for special services or third party services
  • Transferring information from job history before ARAMIS
  • Input fields, pull down menus, checkboxes, radio buttons, input buttons, HTML integration

Database integration, form handling, interface transfer (XML / JDF / JML / Hotfolder)

    Programmed interactions, MySQL command,
    Activation of automated processes,
    calculations, import of Excel worksheets

    Business-specific repro workflow
For every kind of job there are different kinds of information to be collected. To facilitate creating or editing a job, all user interfaces can be displayed in various ways. For example, as seen on the left hand screenshot, all options can be expanded by clicking and selected by checkboxes.

You can also arrange the options in tabs. Also, the number of options can be adjusted for different kinds of jobs.

    Color selection and processing
Another example for ARAMIS' flexibility is the way colors can be handled. Not only can you integrate PANTONE and HKS colors, you can also associate any information on a job (e.g. screen ruling) with any color.

This gathered color information can be processed in various ways: it can be used on routing slips or assignments put into digital briefcase on the Mac/PC of your operators. They can also be used as a basis for pre- and post-calculation or for exchange with production systems.

    Mapping causal connections
To prevent mistakes and reduce error ratio you can limit the options given to your staff to sensible ones. Correspondent programming within the ARAMIS specifications can do exactly that.

The example to the left shows a pull-down menu to choose the thickness of a plate. Subsequently, only appropriate materials are free for selection: wrong input becomes impossible.

    Input verification
Another way ARAMIS specifications help you to prevent errors is to verify input directly. A good example is the handling of barcodes. ARAMIS can see about barcodes being entered correctly and accordingly to specifications.

After verifying a barcode, you can have ARAMIS transfer it into all further processes of production. Using ARAMIS as a central system in your business brings you two profitable advantages: no more redundant information gathering, and a noticeable reduction of error potentials.
